AI Image & Vector Design

Best Recraft Alternatives in 2026

Recraft still has the tightest combination of editable SVG output, mockups, and no-training style locks of any tool I researched, and it remains the right choice for brand designers who ship icons and vector logos. But it charges by credits that reset monthly, hands you public images with no commercial rights on the free plan, and opts paid accounts into training by default - three things that push a lot of users to look elsewhere. Magnific (formerly Freepik) is the strongest overall alternative because it pairs the same multi-model generation with 250 million stock assets and unlimited generation on higher tiers. Krea wins for free daily allowance with a commercial licence included, and Midjourney stays the pick for users who only care about how the picture looks.

Requires GPU hardware and technical setup
Free and open source (GPL-3.0); you supply the hardware

Recraft alternatives are worth a serious look in October 2026, because Recraft itself has changed a lot this year and the field around it has moved just as fast. My pick for most people is Magnific, the company formerly known as Freepik: it covers the same multi-model generation Recraft does, then adds 250 million stock assets, unlimited generation on its upper tiers, and a full design surface. If your priority is a free plan you can actually ship client work from, take Krea. If you only care about how the picture looks, Midjourney is still the strongest image generator in the category. Keep Recraft if editable vector output and mockups are non-negotiable for you - that combination is still hard to beat.

Everything below was checked on October 14, 2026, with prices read on each vendor’s own pricing page.

Why look for a Recraft alternative?

Credits reset monthly and do not roll over. Its credits documentation is explicit that subscription credits reset at the start of each billing cycle and unused credits do not carry over; only paid top-up packs survive, and those start at $2 for 200 credits. That is a fair price per credit, but the monthly cliff means a slow month is wasted spend. On the Basic plan’s 1,000 credits you get roughly 1,000 V4.1 Flash generations, 500 V4.1 images, or only 100 V4.1 Pro renders, which is easy to burn in a single afternoon of client work.

The free plan gives you nothing you can sell. Recraft’s pricing page and its ownership documentation both state that images made on the Free plan stay public in the community gallery, remain Recraft’s property, and are not licensed for commercial use - which rules out listing them on stock platforms. You also get three generations per style per day, three uploads, two images per generation, no parallel generation, and Recraft’s own models only. It is a real free tier, not a trial, but it is a demo tier.

Paid accounts are opted into training by default. Recraft’s data-use documentation says content from free and paid accounts is used to improve its models unless you opt out. API traffic is excluded entirely, opt-out is unavailable on Free, and on Teams workspaces opt-out is on by default. That is a reasonable trade in exchange for cheap credits, but it is not what agencies assume when they hear “commercial licence”.

The pattern across Recraft complaints is consistent: people are not unhappy with the output. They are unhappy with the meter. Almost every tool in this list either gives generation away daily, meters by the hour instead of the image, or banks credits annually so a quiet month is not a wasted month.

Trust and refund friction. Recraft’s refund terms allow a discretionary refund only within 30 days and only if you have used fewer than 30 credits in total since the account was created. Users on Recraft’s Trustpilot profile rate it “Poor” at 2 out of 5 as of October 14, 2026, and the recurring themes are credits spent on generations they did not keep, credits expiring, refund requests declined under that 30-credit rule, and AI-generated support replies. Plenty of the positive reviews there praise output quality directly, so read it as a support-and-billing signal rather than a quality verdict.

Vendor risk is real in this category. Reve AI announced on September 18, 2026 that it was ending image generation on reve.com on September 27 after taking investment from OpenAI, with the download window closing October 31. Recraft, by contrast, has raised $12 million in Series A (January 2024) and $30 million in Series B (May 2025), reports 3 million-plus users, and shipped V4.1 Flash, V4 Styles and a redesigned canvas through 2026. It is not a company in trouble - but the reminders are worth keeping in mind when your brand assets live in someone’s cloud gallery.

What Recraft still does better than almost anyone. Credit-meter complaints aside, Recraft remains unusually good at the thing designers actually need: editable vector. The Vector Editor lets you edit every point, curve and colour of any vector on the canvas - including SVGs you imported yourself - and export as SVG or PDF, and vector generation is available on every plan including Free. Its mockup system converts any photorealistic image into a mockup frame in one click, and V4 Styles locks a visual style from 1 to 10 reference images with no training step. Few competitors put all three in one canvas.

How I chose these alternatives

The comparison uses vendor pricing pages, documentation, help centres, changelogs, terms, API references and company announcements.

Leonardo.Ai’s quoted prices come from a 1 October 2026 archive of its pricing page. User sentiment is drawn from Trustpilot. Unconfirmed figures are left out.

Selection criteria, in order of weight: genuine overlap with Recraft’s workflow (image plus vector plus brand consistency, not just “AI images”), a currently active product, verifiable current pricing, a meaningful free tier or a clear reason to lack one, and credible answers on integrations, collaboration and privacy. I weighted security and privacy claims heavily because they are the least visible differentiator and often the most expensive to get wrong.

Ratings in the tables below are my editorial judgement on a five-point scale. Prices exclude VAT and local taxes and were read on October 14, 2026.

1. Magnific (formerly Freepik) - Best overall

If you are leaving Recraft for one tool, this is the one. On April 28, 2026 the company behind Freepik announced it was becoming Magnific, reporting roughly $230 million in annual recurring revenue; existing logins, subscriptions, downloads and enterprise contracts carried over, so most people are using the same platform under a new name. It is now the widest single subscription in this category.

What it does: image, video and audio generation across 40-plus models, upscaling, a full design editor, and a library of more than 250 million photos, vectors, illustrations, icons, 3D assets, video, audio, templates and fonts. Magnific’s pricing page lists Premium at $14.50 per month billed annually ($20 monthly) with 240,000 credits a year, Premium+ at $33.75 annually ($45 monthly) with 600,000 credits and unlimited generation on most models, and Pro Starter at $82.50 annually ($110 monthly) with 1.5 to 4 million credits and the merchandise licence.

Why it is a valid alternative: it covers generation, editing and asset supply in one subscription, which is Recraft’s job plus a stock library Recraft does not have. Paid plans add a Brand Kit, a shared Spaces canvas, Magnific upscalers, an MCP server, a ComfyUI plugin and API access.

Strengths: the asset library is the killer feature for anyone who currently pays for stock and AI separately. Credits are annual rather than monthly, so unused allowance carries across the year. Unlimited generation on most image models from Premium+ removes the anxiety that drives most Recraft complaints.

Limitations: the free plan is personal use with mandatory attribution and only 20 in-house generations a day. Selling physical products with content you generated requires the merchandise licence on the top Pro tier - which matters a lot for print-on-demand sellers, Recraft’s own audience. Credit maths across 40-plus models is harder to predict than Recraft’s flat per-action table.

Free plan detail: permanent, not a trial. Up to 20 AI image generations per day with the in-house model, 10 stock downloads per day, personal use licence, attribution required, no ability to buy extra credits.

Compared with Recraft: you trade Recraft’s precise vector control and free-tier vector editor for a far larger asset supply and predictable annual credit accounting. If you ship logos and icons, that is a real loss. If you ship campaigns, ads and social, it is a clear win.

Verdict: the strongest general-purpose Recraft alternative, and the one I would point most people at first.

2. Adobe Firefly - Best for enterprise

Adobe Firefly is the pick when the blocker is legal rather than creative. Every paid tier includes unlimited standard image and vector generations, including Text to Vector Graphics, and enterprise agreements add IP indemnification and Custom Models.

Pricing, read October 14, 2026 from Adobe’s Firefly plans page: a free plan with limited daily generations, Standard at $9.99 per month with 2,000 generative credits, Pro at $19.99 with 4,000, Pro Plus at $49.99 with 10,000, and Premium at $199.99 with 50,000 plus unlimited Firefly Video Model access. Creative Cloud Pro at $69.99 per month includes 4,000 Firefly credits and 20-plus Creative Cloud apps.

Strengths: commercially safe training data and Content Credentials, which no other tool here matches on paper. Unlimited standard generations means no credit anxiety for image and vector work. Partner models from Google and OpenAI sit behind the credit system, and credits are shared across Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere and Express.

Limitations: video, audio and partner-model work all consume generative credits that reset monthly. Adobe’s generation experience lives across several products rather than in one canvas, which is the exact thing Recraft’s single infinite canvas was built to fix. There is no equivalent of Recraft’s style-lock-from-references feature.

Free plan detail: permanent, with limited daily generations. Enough to evaluate, not enough to run a campaign on.

Compared with Recraft: Recraft’s own compliance documentation confirms SOC 2 Type 2 certification, AIUC-1 certification, GDPR-aligned data handling and a published subprocessors list. That is a credible setup, not a marketing page. What Recraft does not publish on a standard plan is IP indemnification, and what Adobe publishes is indemnification plus an explicit claim of commercially safe training data.

Verdict: stay on Recraft if you want one tool and full control. Move to Firefly when a client contract or insurer requires indemnification.

3. Canva - Best for teams

Canva is the honest answer when the people producing the assets are marketers rather than designers. It is not competing on generation quality; it is competing on templates, brand control and the fact that anyone can finish the job.

Pricing: Canva Free is permanent and allows up to 20 uses of Standard or Premium AI tools with no Ultra AI access. Canva Pro is US$144 per year for one person, with monthly billing available at a higher rate - their page advertises saving from 16% on annual - and unlocks 10 times more AI than Free, 3.6 million-plus templates, five Brand Kits and 100GB of storage. Canva Business is US$250 per year per person with 400 Premium AI uses or 40 Ultra uses, 100 Brand Kits with approvals and 500GB. Enterprise is contact-sales with SSO, SCIM and custom integrations. Worth knowing: Canva Teams has been retired for new sign-ups.

Strengths: brand governance is mature, approvals and brand kits actually get used by teams, and the free tier produces genuinely usable design work rather than watermarked demos. Our Canva Magic Studio review covers the AI side of the platform in more depth.

Limitations: AI access is metered in uses of specific features, which is harder to forecast than Recraft’s credit-per-model table. Canva generates images but not native SVG vector art from a prompt, so a Recraft user with a vector-first workflow loses something real.

Free plan detail: permanent, with a hard allowance of 20 Standard or Premium AI uses and no Ultra AI.

Compared with Recraft: Recraft wins on craft and vector. Canva wins on collaboration, templates and the fact that a marketing team will actually use it. For a team of ten, that trade is usually worth making.

Verdict: the right call for marketing and social teams. For a designer producing brand assets, it is a downgrade.

4. Krea - Best free option

Krea has the most generous permanent free tier in this comparison, and it is the only one that includes a commercial licence at no cost.

Its free plan gives 100 compute units a day, full access to real-time models, all image, video and 3D models, LoRA training on 50 images, upscaling to 2K, the Krea Nodes visual workflow builder, and unlimited relaxed generations on supported in-house models. Critically, the commercial licence line sits inside the free tier’s feature list. Paid tiers start at Basic at $9 per month, or $5 per month billed annually, with 5,000 units a month and image concurrency of 4; Pro is $35 monthly or $21 annual with 20,000 units and every video model including Veo 3, Sora and Kling; Max is $63 annually and Business is $160.

Strengths: the free tier alone can carry a casual user indefinitely. Krea Nodes and the App Builder turn generation into reusable workflows. There is a 40-plus model REST API, an MCP server and plugins for Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, Blender and ChatGPT. Enterprise plans add full IP indemnification and custom DPAs.

Limitations: no vector or SVG output at all, so any icon or logo work is a dead end. Free concurrency is one image at a time. It has no mockup system.

Compared with Recraft: this is the sharpest trade in the list. You give up vector, mockups and style locks, and get daily free generation with commercial rights instead of public images you cannot sell.

Verdict: my pick for anyone whose Recraft bill was driven by casual exploration rather than client deliverables.

5. Ideogram - Best for typography

Ideogram is the strongest alternative when words on the image are the deliverable. Its Layerize Text feature turns every line of generated text into a separate editable layer, so you can retype copy, swap fonts and resize without regenerating.

Pricing, read October 14, 2026: a permanent Free plan, Plus at $20 per month billed annually ($180 a year) or $15 per month on the yearly rate, Pro at $60 annually ($504 a year) or $42 monthly-equivalent, Team at $30 per user per month annually ($240) or $20 monthly-equivalent, and Enterprise postpaid with a two-user minimum. Credits are 2,400 priority credits a month on Plus, 7,500 on Pro and 3,600 per user on Team; Ideogram 4.5 costs from 0.8 credits per image up to 22 for high-quality rendering with source images.

Strengths: typography accuracy is the category benchmark. Paid plans get private generations, unlimited slow credits, API and MCP access, and a set of editing apps including an ad resizer, background remover and colourways tool.

Limitations: Ideogram states plainly that it offers no discounts and no free trials for subscription plans, and eligible free accounts receive weekly credits rather than a daily allowance. Free accounts get one running plus queued generation and no private generations. There is no vector pipeline.

Compared with Recraft: Recraft’s differentiator is text placement control plus vector output. Ideogram wins the pure text-rendering contest and loses on everything around it.

Verdict: switch if posters, packaging and social graphics with headline copy are most of your work.

6. Midjourney - Best for power users

Midjourney still produces the most consistently beautiful images of anything here, and its billing model is the antidote to credit anxiety: you buy GPU hours, not generations.

Plans, from Midjourney’s plan comparison: Basic $10 per month ($96 a year, $8 monthly-equivalent), Standard $30 ($288 a year), Pro $60 ($576 a year) and Mega $120 ($1,152 a year), each with a 20% annual discount. Standard and above get unlimited images in Relax mode; Pro and Mega add unlimited standard-definition video. Fast GPU time runs 3.3, 15, 30 and 60 hours a month, and extra GPU time costs $4 an hour. Stealth mode, which keeps generations off the public site, is available only on Pro and Mega.

Strengths: no per-image maths. Proven quality for photography and editorial work - our Midjourney review goes deeper on output quality. Stealth mode for client work.

Limitations and the one to read carefully: Midjourney’s terms state that you own the assets you create, except that any company, or any employee of a company, with more than $1 million USD in annual revenue must be subscribed to Pro or Mega to own them. Content is publicly viewable and remixable by default. One account per user, and automated access to generate assets is prohibited - which rules out the API pipelines Recraft supports.

Compared with Recraft: Recraft grants full ownership on every paid plan, offers a REST API, an MCP server, SSO on Teams and a vector editor. Midjourney offers none of those.

Verdict: if the output is a photograph or a mood image, take Midjourney. If you need vectors, automation or team seats, do not.

7. Leonardo.Ai - Best budget option

Leonardo.Ai is the cheapest credible way to get custom fine-tuned models, and its free daily token grant is genuinely usable.

Pricing from a 1 October 2026 archive of Leonardo’s own pricing page: Free at $0 with 150 fast tokens daily; Essential at $12 per month monthly or $10 annually with 8,500 tokens a month and a 25,500-token bank; Premium at $30 monthly or $24 annually with 25,000 tokens; Ultimate at $60 monthly or $48 annually with 60,000 tokens. Teams Growth is $144 per month ($48 per seat excluding tax) with a 180,000-token shared pool. Token pools roll over into a bank, and when they run out you drop to relaxed generation rather than hitting a wall.

Strengths: train-your-own-model fine-tuning on every tier, which is the feature Krea charges compute units for. Relaxed generation as a fallback. An iOS and Android app. The site states the platform is SOC 2 Type I and Type II accredited.

Limitations: no vector output, no mockups, no design canvas. Token costs vary by model, which makes budgeting less transparent than Recraft’s fixed credit table.

Compared with Recraft: Recraft’s style system locks a look from reference images without training anything. Leonardo lets you actually train a model, which is heavier but more precise for a specific character or house style.

Verdict: the right budget pick for game, concept and character work.

8. Kittl - Best specialised design editor

Kittl is the mirror image of Recraft: a genuine design editor with AI built in, rather than an AI tool with editing bolted on. For print-on-demand and merch that is an advantage.

Pricing, verified October 2026: a Free plan that their help centre describes as free forever with no trial period, giving 100 AI tokens one-time, PNG and JPG exports up to 800px at 72dpi, five projects, 500MB of storage, and personal use only. Pro is $15 per month or $12 annually ($144 a year) with 2,000 AI tokens per editor per month, 10GB, vector export, high-resolution downloads, custom fonts and commercial use. Expert is $35 monthly or $26 annually ($312 a year) with 6,000 tokens and 100GB. Max is $65 monthly or $48 annually ($576 a year) with 12,000 tokens, 1TB and an Enhanced Licence with no copy limits.

Strengths: real vector editing with export, print production features, and merch libraries. The free plan is permanent and clearly labelled, not a countdown timer.

Limitations: the free plan is capped at 800px exports and personal use, so it is a trial in all but name for professional work. No API on individual plans. And a wrinkle worth knowing: Kittl’s own AI model menu lists Recraft V4.1, V4.1 Vector and V4 Styles alongside its own roster, so it is simultaneously a competitor and a reseller.

Compared with Recraft: Recraft’s mockup generator and style locks are stronger for brand systems. Kittl’s editor is stronger for anyone producing something that gets printed.

Verdict: the best pick for merch sellers; a poor fit for campaign work.

9. OpenArt - Best for character consistency

OpenArt is built around one problem: keeping the same character recognisable across dozens of images.

Pricing, read October 14, 2026: a free account that the company says now offers unlimited basic image generations - daily free credits have been replaced rather than topped up. Starter is $14 per seat per month with 4,000 credits, Plus $34 with 12,000, Pro $56 with 24,000 and Wonder $240 with 106,000. Promotional discounts of 10 to 27% were advertised on 14 October 2026, so treat the headline numbers as list prices. Commercial use rights appear from the Plus tier upward; Starter is watermark-free but does not list commercial rights.

Strengths: tens of personalised models and consistent characters per tier, One-Click Stories and a Director mode for longer-form work, 100-plus premium models, an MCP server and up to 32 parallel generations on upper tiers.

Limitations: commercial rights are not on the cheapest tier, which surprises people. Credit cost per model varies, so a project can overrun faster than expected. No vector or mockup workflow.

Compared with Recraft: Recraft’s V4 Styles locks a look from reference images without training. OpenArt builds persistent trained models. Different tools for different consistency problems.

Verdict: switch for narrative, comic and character work. Do not switch for brand systems.

10. Photoroom - Best for e-commerce sellers

Photoroom does one job extremely well: product photography. If your Recraft usage is mostly mockups and backgrounds for an online store, this is more efficient.

Pricing: Pro at $12.99 per month, or $7.50 per month billed yearly, with 8,000 AI credits and 1,000 exports a month. Max at $34.99 monthly or $20.99 yearly, with 25,000 credits and 3,000 exports. Ultra at $99 monthly or $82.50 yearly, with 75,000 credits and 10,000 exports. Core tools including background removal, retouch, AI fill and AI expand cost no credits on any paid plan within fair-use limits; advanced generative tools do. Their pricing page offered free trials rather than a permanent free plan when I read it.

Strengths: Shopify sync and batch export, and a monthly export allowance stated up front rather than buried in a credit table.

Limitations: export caps of 1,000 to 10,000 images a month will hurt a large catalogue. API and MCP usage sit outside the main allowance. It does no vector or brand-system work at all.

Compared with Recraft: Recraft’s mockup system and vector output have no equivalent here. But for a seller producing 200 listings a month, Photoroom’s fixed export allowance beats a credit meter.

Verdict: a specialist complement or replacement for sellers. Irrelevant to designers.

11. ComfyUI - Best open-source option

ComfyUI is not a competitor to Recraft’s workflow; it is a competitor to depending on Recraft at all.

Comfy-Org/ComfyUI is GPL-3.0 licensed with roughly 137,000 GitHub stars and commits landing on the day I checked. It is free software that runs on your own GPU, and it can run open-weight models such as FLUX.1-schnell, which is Apache-2.0 licensed on Hugging Face, and FLUX.2-dev, which ships under a non-commercial licence.

Strengths: no per-image metering, no vendor shutdown risk, and full control over the pipeline. Recraft itself maintains a ComfyUI integration, which tells you the workflow is mainstream.

Limitations: you need hardware and technical skill. There is no mockup generator, no vector editor, no brand-kit layer and no design canvas. You are building a tool, not buying one.

Compared with Recraft: you give up every convenience feature and gain durability. If your brand assets must exist in five years regardless of vendor decisions, that trade is worth making.

Verdict: the right answer for studios and agencies with GPU capacity, and the wrong answer for everyone else.

Which Recraft alternative should you choose?

  1. You want one subscription for AI plus stock, templates and design → Magnific (formerly Freepik), from $14.50 per month billed annually.

When you should keep Recraft

Keep Recraft if at least two of these are true. You generate editable SVG icons, logos or illustrations as a routine part of the job. You rely on the mockup generator, which converts an existing photoreal image into a mockup frame in a click. You need a style lock from reference images that does not require training. You want full commercial ownership on the cheapest paid tier, with no revenue threshold. You need a REST API, an MCP server and plugins for Figma, Framer, Chrome and Google Docs and Slides. Or you simply like one canvas for the whole job.

Recraft is not going anywhere. It raised $30 million in May 2025, shipped V4.1 Flash and V4 Styles in 2026, rebuilt its left panel around Create and Chat modes, and holds SOC 2 Type 2 and AIUC-1 certifications. For a designer who lives in vectors and mockups, none of the eleven tools above does the same job in the same place.

When switching makes sense

Credits run out mid-project and stop you shipping. Krea’s free tier and Magnific’s annual credit pools both remove the monthly cliff. Midjourney’s GPU-hour model removes per-image maths entirely.

You cannot use what you made. If the free-plan public gallery and absent commercial licence block your work, Krea is the fastest fix because its commercial licence is included at no cost. Ideogram’s paid plans add private generations; Recraft’s paid plans add ownership.

Legal wants indemnification or a training-data guarantee. Adobe Firefly publishes IP indemnification on enterprise agreements and states its models are trained on commercially safe data. Recraft publishes certifications but not indemnification.

You need video or real-time generation as a first-class output. Recraft gates video behind Pro at $20 per month monthly or $16 annually. Krea’s Pro plan includes every video model, and Midjourney’s Pro and Mega add unlimited standard-definition video.

You need unlimited volume at a predictable monthly cost. Magnific Premium+ and Pro Starter, and Midjourney’s Relax tiers, both remove per-image accounting.

You are worried about vendor continuity. Reve AI stopped image generation on September 27, 2026 after an OpenAI investment, with downloads closing October 31. If that risk matters to you, Adobe’s indemnity or a self-hosted ComfyUI setup is the structural answer, not another subscription.

You do not care about vectors at all. Every month you do not need SVG is a month you could spend on Krea’s free tier instead of Recraft’s metered one.

How to migrate without chaos

Export before you cancel, not after. Recraft confirms that images created during a paid subscription remain private and yours even after the subscription ends, so there is no panic window. Export as SVG or PDF from the Vector Editor rather than PNG - a rasterised export is a redraw, not a migration. Save your prompts and custom styles separately, because styles live in your account, not in your files.

Rebuild brand consistency on the target first. Do not migrate assets before you rebuild the style system. In Magnific, set up the Brand Kit. In Krea, train the LoRA on 50 images. In OpenArt, build the personalised models. In Leonardo.Ai, fine-tune. Attempting to recreate look-and-feel from exported PNGs is how projects turn into a month of manual rework.

Move vector work and raster work separately. Recraft users usually have two distinct jobs tangled together. Icons and logos need SVG - go to Kittl, Adobe Firefly or Magnific. Photography, product shots and social need raster - go to Krea, Leonardo.Ai or Midjourney. Most people find one tool per job beats one tool for both.

Test the billing shape before committing. Recraft’s top-up credits cost one cent each and never expire, which makes them the cheapest way to bridge a month. Most alternatives do not offer anything as flexible. If you move, move for the workflow, not for a subscription discount that expires in a promo window.

Re-check the commercial terms. Recraft forbids using its output to train any AI model. Kittl’s free plan is personal use only and Photoroom’s export allowance caps monthly volume. Read the licence line on the new plan before you send work to a client.

Keep one Recraft seat if you can. At $10 per month billed annually, Basic covers occasional vector and mockup work. The cheapest migration is a hybrid, not a cutover.

Final recommendation

Best overall: Magnific (formerly Freepik). It matches Recraft on multi-model generation and beats it on asset supply, annual credit accounting and team features. You lose precise vector control and pay extra for merchandise rights.

Best free: Krea. A permanent free tier with 100 units a day, unlimited relaxed generations and a commercial licence. Nothing else in this list gives you that.

Best for power users: Midjourney. Unlimited Relax generations from $30 a month and the best raw image quality, with a real caveat in the terms about companies over $1 million in revenue and no API access.

Keep Recraft if you ship editable vector and mockups every week and want one canvas, one credit balance, full ownership on the cheapest paid tier and a genuine API and MCP story. Recraft’s Vector Editor, one-click mockups and training-free style locks remain a genuinely distinct combination.

Switch if credits resetting monthly is your biggest frustration, you need indemnification, you cannot ship work made on a free plan, or you have decided you would rather own the pipeline. Any of those four is a good enough reason.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Recraft alternative overall? Magnific, the platform Freepik rebranded to in April 2026. It pairs AI generation with 250 million-plus stock assets, adds a Brand Kit and shared Spaces canvas, and starts at $14.50 per month billed annually. Its free plan is personal use only and the merchandise licence sits on the top tier.

Is there a free alternative to Recraft? Yes - Krea is the strongest, with 100 compute units a day, unlimited relaxed generations and a commercial licence included. Leonardo.Ai is next with 150 daily tokens. Ideogram’s free plan is permanent too but limited to weekly slow credits.

Which alternatives still generate real vector art? Adobe Firefly, Kittl and Magnific. Firefly includes unlimited Text to Vector Graphics on every paid tier, Kittl adds true vector export from Pro, and Magnific carries 250 million-plus vector assets. Krea, Ideogram and Midjourney produce no vector output.

Can I use images from Recraft’s free plan commercially? No. Recraft’s documentation states that free-plan images remain Recraft’s property, appear in the public community gallery and are not licensed for commercial use. Client work needs a paid plan, which grants full ownership and keeps images private.

Does Recraft use my images to train its models? By default, yes for free and paid accounts. API inputs and outputs are never used for training. Opt-out is unavailable on Free, available on Pro, and applied by default on Teams workspaces.

What is the best Recraft alternative for power users? Midjourney, on image quality and unlimited Relax generations from the $30 Standard plan. Stealth mode needs Pro or Mega, and companies with more than $1 million in annual revenue must be on those plans to own their assets.

What happened to Freepik? Freepik became Magnific on April 28, 2026, announced alongside a reported $230 million ARR. Logins, subscriptions, downloads, seats and enterprise contracts all carried over, so most users are on the same product under a new name.

Should I switch from Recraft at all? Only for a specific reason. Keep it if editable SVG, mockups and training-free style locks are core to your work. Switch if credit exhaustion is chronic, if legal needs indemnification, if you need unlimited generation on predictable pricing, or if you want your own infrastructure.

Common questions

FAQs about Recraft alternatives

What is the best Recraft alternative overall?

Magnific, the platform Freepik rebranded to in April 2026, is the strongest overall swap. It bundles AI generation with 250 million-plus stock assets, adds a Brand Kit and shared Spaces canvas, and starts at $14.50 per month billed annually. The trade-off is that its free plan is personal use only and its merchandise licence sits on the top tier.

Is there a free alternative to Recraft?

Krea is the best free option. Its free plan gives 100 compute units every day, unlimited relaxed generations, LoRA training on 50 images and - unusually - a commercial licence. Leonardo.Ai is the runner-up with 150 daily tokens, and Ideogram's free plan is permanent but limited to weekly slow credits.

Which Recraft alternative still generates real vector art?

Adobe Firefly, Kittl and Magnific. Firefly includes unlimited Text to Vector Graphics on every paid tier, Kittl gives you true vector export from its Pro plan, and Magnific carries 250 million-plus vector assets. Krea, Ideogram and Midjourney do not produce vector output at all.

Can I use images from Recraft's free plan commercially?

No. Recraft's own documentation states that images generated on the Free plan remain Recraft's property, appear in the public community gallery, and are not licensed for commercial use. Any client work or product listing needs a paid plan.

Does Recraft use my images to train its models?

By default, yes for free and paid accounts. API inputs and outputs are never used for training, but Studio content is included unless you opt out - and opt-out is unavailable on the Free plan. On Teams workspaces the training opt-out is applied by default.

What is the best Recraft alternative for power users?

Midjourney, if you only care about image quality. Its Relax mode gives unlimited generations from the $30 Standard plan upward and Stealth mode arrives on Pro. The catch is the terms require Pro or Mega for any company with more than $1 million in annual revenue, and there is no API access.

What happened to Freepik?

Freepik became Magnific on April 28, 2026, announced alongside a reported $230 million ARR. Existing logins, subscriptions, downloads and enterprise contracts carried over unchanged, so most people are still using the same product under a new name.

Should I switch from Recraft at all?

Keep Recraft if you ship editable SVG icons, logos and mockups and want one canvas for all of it - nothing else combines vector, mockup and style-lock in one place. Switch if credits running out mid-project is a recurring frustration, if legal requires indemnification, or if you need unlimited generation at a predictable monthly cost.
